Liquid Leak Detector Test: DOM Solvent vs Water | YHSP-SA

Admin 2026.10.05 18:43:49 Model: YHSP-SA Substance Name: Dioctyl Maleate (DOM) Chemical Formula: C₂₀H₃₆O₄ CAS No.: 142-16-5 Substance Type: Organic Solvent

TECHNICAL NOTE

DOM Leak Detection Test

Yoohantech's YHSP-SA Electronic Leak Point Sensor was tested with water and DOM using identical module settings. In this test, water caused no alarm during 30 seconds of observation, while DOM reached the detection threshold in 5 seconds.

01 / TEST RESULTS

Water: 30 s Observation · DOM: 5 s Detection

WATER

Comparison Test

30 s

Water observation period

No Leak Alarm

The sensor output did not reach the detection threshold during the 30-second observation period.

DOM

Detection Test

5 s

Time to reach the detection threshold

DOM Detected · Alarm Activated

The sensor output reached the detection threshold of 1.0569 in 5 seconds.

Note: 30 seconds is the observation period for the water test; 5 seconds is the time to reach the threshold in the DOM test. These figures represent different measurements.

What This
Test Examines

In addition to checking whether liquid contact triggered an alarm, this test examined the sensor's ability to distinguish water from the DOM solution.

Identical module settings were used for both tests to compare the sensor output and alarm status. The DOM test also measured the time taken to reach the detection threshold that triggers the alarm.

03 / TEST PROCEDURE

Test Procedure Shown in the Video

STEP 01

Check the Test Conditions

Check the sensor and detection module settings. Prepare water for the comparison test on the left and the DOM solution on the right, as shown in the video.

STEP 02

Add Water and Observe for 30 Seconds

Place the sensor in the test container and add water. Start timing and monitor whether the sensor output reaches the detection threshold or a leak alarm occurs.

STEP 03

Dry the Sensor and Keep the Same Settings

After the water test, completely remove moisture from the sensor. Prepare the DOM test while keeping the same module settings used in the water test.

STEP 04

Add DOM and Measure Detection Time

Add the DOM solution and monitor the sensor response. In the video, the output reached the detection threshold of 1.0569 in 5 seconds and triggered a leak alarm.

TECHNICAL INSIGHT

Selective Detection
Under Identical Settings

In this test, the YHSP-SA produced no leak alarm during 30 seconds of water exposure, while the DOM solution reached the detection threshold in 5 seconds. This demonstrates different alarm responses to water and DOM under these test conditions.

These results apply to the DOM solution and module settings used in this test. Detection characteristics and response times may vary with the target liquid, sensor condition, and operating conditions.

04 / QUESTIONS

Understanding the Test Results

Q. What does no alarm in the water test mean?

It means the sensor output did not reach the detection threshold during the 30-second observation period. This result should not be interpreted as proof that water has no effect under all conditions.

Q. How was the 5-second DOM detection time measured?

It is the time taken for the sensor output shown in the video to reach the configured detection threshold of 1.0569. This result was obtained with the DOM solution and module settings used in this test.

Q. Do these results also apply to other organic solvents?

Detection characteristics and response times may differ with the liquid and test conditions. Share the name of your target liquid, its Safety Data Sheet (SDS), and operating conditions so we can advise on suitable sensors and detection testing.
