Hello, My name is Richard McGirt, and I work for Synoligo Biotechnologies in the United States. We are evaluating solvent leak detection systems for use in our laboratory after recently experiencing an overnight solvent leak. We are looking for a solution that can provide early detection and automatic notification. Could you please provide information on the following: Which sensing cables are recommended for detecting common laboratory organic solvents (such as acetonitrile, methanol, ethanol, isopropyl alcohol, and acetone)? Do your leak detection controllers support Ethernet, Modbus TCP/RTU, SNMP, or relay outputs? Can the controller send email notifications directly, or can it be integrated with a server to generate automatic email alerts? Can a single controller monitor multiple sensing cables or multiple laboratory instruments? Could you recommend a complete system (controller, sensing cable, and any required accessories) for monitoring leaks around laboratory equipment? We are interested in implementing a reliable leak detection system that can be integrated with our existing network infrastructure for automatic notifications.

Dear Mr. McGirt,

Thank you for your detailed inquiry regarding a solvent leak detection system for your laboratory.

For the detection of common laboratory organic solvents such as acetonitrile, methanol, ethanol, isopropyl alcohol, and acetone, we recommend our YHSP-SA Organic Solvent Point Leak Sensor.

Please note that the YHSP-SA is a point-type leak sensor, not a sensing cable. It is designed to be installed at locations where solvent leakage is most likely to occur, such as beneath laboratory instruments, solvent containers, pumps, valves, fittings, tubing connections, and drain areas.

We also recommend using a dedicated mounting bracket with each YHSP-SA sensor. The bracket securely positions the sensor at the desired detection point and makes inspection, maintenance, and replacement much easier.

Recommended System Configuration
YHSP-SA Organic Solvent Point Leak Sensors
Dedicated Mounting Brackets for YHSP-SA
YHSM-04S-A Four-Channel Leak Detection Modules
YHSM-01S-A Single-Channel Leak Detection Modules (for individual monitoring points)
Additional replacement sensing elements (recommended as spare parts)

A single control panel can monitor multiple laboratory instruments by installing multiple 1-channel or 4-channel detection modules. The monitoring capacity can therefore be expanded according to the number of instruments and leak detection points.

Our leak detection modules support RS-485 communication with the Modbus RTU protocol. Ethernet, Modbus TCP, and SNMP are not supported.

The leak detection modules do not generate email notifications directly. Automatic email alerts, SMS notifications, event logging, and alarm management should be implemented through the customer's local PLC, BMS, SCADA system, monitoring server, or Modbus gateway.

For overseas projects, we generally supply the point leak sensors, mounting brackets, leak detection modules, and replacement sensing elements. In most cases, the control panel and upper-level monitoring system are designed and manufactured locally by the customer or a local system integrator to comply with local electrical standards and to integrate with the customer's existing monitoring infrastructure.

Please note that the YHSP-SA does not have hazardous-location certification for the United States. Therefore, it is recommended only for installation in non-hazardous laboratory areas where U.S. hazardous-location certification is not required.

To recommend the most appropriate system configuration, we would appreciate receiving the following information:

Number of laboratory instruments to be monitored
Number of leak detection points
Approximate distance between the sensors and the control panel
Photographs or a simple layout of the installation area
Confirmation that the installation area is classified as non-hazardous

After reviewing this information, we will be pleased to recommend the appropriate quantities of sensors, mounting brackets, detection modules, and replacement sensing elements.

For your reference, we have attached our Company Profile, YHSP-SA Product Brochure, and Leak Detection Module Brochure.

You can also find additional information on our English website, including installation case studies and leak detection test videos, which demonstrate actual field applications and product performance in various industrial environments.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,
