This is a replacement installation case of a leak detector for alkali piping at a petrochemical complex in Ulsan. The old optical sensors that frequently caused false alarms were removed and fully replaced with integrated electronic point sensors (YHSM-AR01) that do not react to water, creating a safer and more efficient chemical leak management system.

Hello.
This is Assistant Manager Kim from Yoohantech, a specialist in hazardous chemical safety systems.
ย
There has been a lot of noise lately because of the presidential election.
I hope it concludes soon and the economy recovers so that things improve for everyone.
ย
Today, I would like to introduce a replacement case of the integrated electronic leak point sensor, YHSM-AR01, which solved a frequent false alarm issue.
ย
This company, located in the Ulsan Petrochemical Complex, manufactures a variety of petrochemical products and uses large amounts of hazardous chemicals with strong alkali properties in its process lines.
ย
Due to frequent false alarm problems with the old installed units, the customer decided to proceed with a full replacement of the leak detectors.
After checking the site, we found that the existing system was using optical point sensors.
ย
The existing optical sensors detect liquids based on light refraction. However, they have a critical drawback: they react not only to chemicals, but also to all liquids, including water.
The problem is that even when there is no actual leak incident, condensation or environmental changes can cause light refraction and trigger false alarms.
ย
In particular, this chemical plant frequently washes the floor with water. Each time, the optical sensors reacted to the water and triggered alarms, creating the inconvenience of having to move the sensors one by one.
In addition, repeated failures made it very difficult for the safety managers to properly control chemical leak risks.
ย
ย
Now, let us show you the installation process of Yoohantechโs integrated electronic leak point sensor (YHSM-AR01) that does not react to water, which solved these issues completely.

ย
Yoohantech specialists are carrying out the leak detector replacement work with great care.
ย
For reference, the previous system had no pull box at the detector end, which made maintenance very difficult. During this replacement project, an additional pull box was installed to greatly improve future maintenance convenience.

These are the old optical leak detectors used before the replacement.
ย
As you can see, the terminal finishing was not properly completed, leaving wiring exposed and creating multiple safety concerns in a chemical environment.

Installation of the integrated electronic leak point sensor YHSM-AR01 completed

ย
This is the clean replacement installation after removal of the old units.
Terminal finishing was completed neatly with no exposed wiring, and an additional pull box was installed to improve stability.
ย
The leak detector installed in this project is an integrated type, so no separate control module is required, helping reduce installation costs.
ย
It supports NO (Normally Open) contact output, just like the previous optical products.
This allowed the customer to continue using the existing control panel while replacing only the detectors with high-performance electronic sensors, maximizing cost efficiency.
ย
In addition, Yoohantechโs YHSM-AR01 supports RS485 communication, allowing direct connection to a PLC when needed for building a smart factory safety system.
ย
This project involved the replacement of as many as 100 leak detectors, but thanks to the know-how of Yoohantech specialists, it was completed safely and efficiently.
