Today, I would like to share a field case in which the existing sensor, which had been causing frequent failures, was removed and replaced with a highly durable electronic leak point sensor to improve plant safety.

This customer, located in the Yeosu industrial complex in Jeollanam-do, produces high-performance specialty synthetic rubber, EP(D)M, which is widely used in automotive parts and many other industrial applications.
EP(D)M is an important material used broadly in everyday products such as automotive body sealing components, tire tubes, hoses, and electric wire insulation.

During the production process, the strongly acidic hazardous chemical sulfuric acid is used.
The previously installed film-type leak detector had been in service for less than one year, yet it suffered from frequent false alarms and failures caused by moisture and gas, making safety management difficult. For this reason, Yoohantech proposed full replacement with the proven and reliable electronic leak point sensor (YHSP-SAR), and the work was carried out accordingly.

The previous film-type detector had a weakness in that it could be easily damaged by harsh field conditions, even when covered with a protective cover. In contrast, the newly installed point leak detector offers much stronger durability and fewer false alarms, making it highly suitable for demanding sites such as the Yeosu chemical plant.

This project involved not only replacement of the existing product, but also the additional installation of four electronic leak point sensors (YHSP-SAR) on a newly added sulfuric acid tank, strengthening the overall chemical leak safety network throughout the plant.
